Moss on a roof is the one bit of exterior grime you can see from the street and it's the one that actually costs you money. It isn't just untidy: moss holds water against your tiles, works into the gaps, and over a few winters that trapped moisture cracks tiles and shortens the life of the whole roof.
First Fix Response clears roof moss and cleans tiled, slate and conservatory roofs across Kent & Medway carefully, by hand, and soft-washed rather than blasted. We're a local team, the same real people behind our drainage and roofing work, and we know a roof is not a driveway: hit it with high pressure and you'll loosen tiles and force water underneath. We do it the way that protects the roof, not just the way that looks quick.

Tiled & slate roofs
The main job moss and algae cleared from concrete tiles and slate, and the surface treated so it stays clear far longer than a quick scrape.
Conservatory & glass roofs
Conservatory roofs, glass and polycarbonate, cleaned inside the frame and out, bringing back the light a green, grimy conservatory roof steals from the room below.
Extension, garage & low-level roofs
Flat and low-pitched roofs on extensions and garages cleared of moss, leaves and debris before they block up and start holding water.
This is the single most important thing to understand about roof cleaning, and it's where most damage gets done. A high-pressure jet-wash will strip moss off a roof quickly and in doing so it loosens tiles, blasts the protective surface off concrete tiles, and forces water up under the laps where it has no business being. People have blasted their moss off and given themselves a leak.
We don't do that. We clear the moss by hand and soft wash low pressure plus a biocide (a treatment that kills the moss, algae and lichen at the root).
Two reasons it's the right way:
It protects the roof.
No loosened tiles, no stripped surface, no water forced underneath.
It lasts.
Killing the growth at the root means it stays clear for years, not until the next wet spell. A scrape alone grows back fast.
Slower and gentler beats fast and damaging every time on a roof.

Plain English, because it's easy to ignore until it's a problem:
It holds water against the tiles and in a Kent winter, water that freezes and thaws in the gaps cracks tiles from the outside in.
It breaks loose and blocks things. Clumps wash down into valleys and gutters and cause blockages elsewhere (if your gutters are already blocked, that's a job we can sort at the same visit).
It shortens the roof's life. A mossy roof ages faster than a clean one. Clearing it is cheap maintenance; a re-roof is not.

Block paving, concrete, tarmac and resin. We lift out ingrained dirt, weeds and moss, then re-sand block paving so it stays locked in place not just blasted and left to wash away.

Slabs, natural stone and paths brought back to their original colour and made safe underfoot, because a mossy patio is a slip waiting to happen

Moss holds water against your tiles and shortens a roof's life. We clear it carefully and treat what's left without the high-pressure blasting that loosens and cracks tiles.

Streaked or algae-covered render cleaned with soft washing, not brute force. What that means is just below.

Commercial Pressure washing for our commercial customers. We can pressure wash roofs and gutters keeping your business looking like new.
Cleaning a roof makes it healthy and clears the moss it doesn't make a twenty-year-old roof look brand new, and anyone promising that is overselling. And while we're up there, if we spot cracked, slipped or failing tiles, we'll tell you because cleaning a roof that already needs repair is money half-spent.
If it needs repair work, that's our roofing side, and we'll point you to our trusted roof team.

Yes, over time. It holds water against the tiles, which freezes and cracks them in winter, and it breaks off and blocks valleys and gutters. Clearing it is straightforward maintenance that helps your roof last longer.
No that's exactly why we don't jet-wash roofs. High pressure loosens tiles and forces water underneath. We clear by hand and soft-wash, which cleans without damaging the roof.
No. Roofs are soft-washed low pressure plus a treatment that kills the growth at the root. Pressure-blasting a roof is how people end up with loose tiles and leaks.
Yes, we can clear your gutters on the same visit, which makes sense once we're set up at height.
Every few years for most Kent & Medway homes sooner if your roof is shaded, north-facing or under trees, which grow moss faster.
Yes, glass and polycarbonate conservatory roofs, inside the frame and out, to bring the light back into the room below.
It depends on the size and pitch of the roof, access, and how much moss there is. Rather than a misleading headline figure, we quote your actual roof, free and with no obligation.
